Viva Los Leikers
Wait, who the hell are the Thunder anyway -- and how the hell do they have fans already? Oh well, doesn't matter. After last night's game, I'm sure any fans they had will be jumping ship. It was almost embarrassing.

It's All Cricket
Evidently the sport of Cricket actually makes sense to some people. I am not one of those. I am however one of those who will stumble upon a collection of vintage Cricket paraphernalia and post it on their random blog. Seeing as how I'd like to walk the walk as much as talking the talk, and as a patron of the sports, I am willing to learn the rules and various subtle nuances of this fine sport if given the chance. I will send "something" out to the person who can accurately make sense of the sport in 50 words or less in the comments section.
*Note: Special attention paid to any submissions written in iambic pentameter.

For The Weekend BBQ...
A few jams that happen to be playing this weekend. In no order and for no reason at all.

I'm Seeing Red
I've been fostering my semi-unhealthy obsession with watches by not only securing this custom-built piece, but by also by endlessly lusting after infamous models such as the Rolex "Red" Submariner. When the model was first introduced in '67 it was adorned with the word 'Submariner' painted in red. A bold yet classy move. Because of routine maintenance by Rolex, where these dials were often swapped out with newer versions sans red markings, these early examples (apprx '67-'73), in decent condition, have become some of the most sought after time pieces. You're going to pay a premium and wade through a sea of fakes to wrap your wrist in highlights of red, but does the guy sitting next to you have a red sub? It's the little red things in life that get me up in the mornings.

Gremmie Some More
Hand-shaped, custom-painted and all done with love by Kevin Skibba right here in Southern California. Gremmie Sidewalk Surfers merges the grassroots ideology of old school surfing and skating with the passion and creativity only found in someone who has lived and loved the Southern California lifestyle. Turning modern day skateboard design on its ear and approaching the entire process from a new angle is what draws us to the company. Not necessarily someone doing it better, but certainly someone doing it right.

The Whole Damn Thing
The holistic hippie handbook -- The Whole Earth Catalog -- was the go-to guide for anyone looking to make themselves and their surroundings better. Published from 1968-1971, The Whole Earth Catalog became the bible for, a then underground movement on the verge of becoming a political force, the environmentalists.
"We are as gods and might as well get good at it. So far remotely done power and glory - as via government, big business, formal education, church - has succeeded to the point where the gross defects obscure actual gain. In response to this dilemma and to these gains a realm of intimate, person power is developing - power of the individual to conduct his own education, find his own inspiration, shape his own environment, and share his adventure with whoever is interested. Tools that aid this process are sought and promoted by the WHOLE EARTH CATALOG."
They have their entire collection of publications available online to flip through and get lost in. Learn to build a geodesic dome or a tee-pee. Learn which boots are best for your organic garden. Or just read about what life-changing events were unfolding on the far corners of our small world before a few of us were born.
