More, Chad Moore

Stoked to call this guy a friend. One of the most talented photographers I know, Chad Moore, along with Harrison Boyce have been showing me a good time whilst in this fine East Coastedness. Always nice to see the city through the eyes of these two.

Friday Style

Brought to you by Jean-Babtiste Mondino. This editorial has been in nearly every inspiration board I've assembled for the past few years. Not only are the shots beautiful, but the styling is perfect. I think I need to go more post-apocalyptic gypsy dandy for Fall '13.

In Search Of...

Photographer or not, anyone who owns a camera has something in common... we're always in search of the perfect camera bag. Whether you're trying to tote it on two shoulders, put a laptop in it, keep it small enough for overhead compartments or find it in milspec fabric, none of us are totally happy. Last night I stumbled on this site, Bag Exposure, which makes the promise of "helping photographers with the endless pursuit of the perfect camera bag..." These guys feel our pain, and are here to help. They might not solve your problem, but they sure as hell try. Hit it up.

How It Should Be Done: Travi$ Scott

Oh, you don't have a huge budget for a music video? Well, hire a DP who understands angles and light, throw in some knives and stuffed animals and shoot it under beautiful forest canopy light. Goes to show you don't need car chases, helicopters and pyrotechnics to make a memorable video. Watch it after the jump.

FIxed Gear Manual

Thanks to Foster Huntington for turning me on to this video of the head of Bugatti's design team likening his '81 SC to fixed gear bicycles. Forget all the instagram shots of Porsche 912s you've been double-tapping, because this is the new poster child for "shit I must own one day." Kevlar panels, plastic windows and 820kgs of "that's by far the best thing I've seen on the internet today." The video after the jump.

The Most Beautiful Book You Don't Own

Ive been on a book kick lately, especially out of print photo books on auto racing... all three of them. A friend told me about this obscure little release back in '72, and like a blaze orange-clad sportsman in Alabama, I stalked. At Speed by Jesse Alexander was the prey, Amazon was the killing fileds, and a couple hundred BUCKS later, it arrived on my doorstep. Words can't describe, so....

Bucket List: '70s Skyline GTR

Nothing like early 70s Japanese muscle to get your day going (pause?). Sure, the Fast and the Furious franchise may have thrown the spotlight back onto these bad boys, but how can you deny their vintage luster? There are a few more in the queue before this one, but trust it's on the list for sure.

Environment X Commune

So, what happens when some of my favorite design superheros join forces? This. The collab between Environment and Commune is nothing short of perfect. Okay, maybe the prices aren't perfect, but can you really put a price tag on wood and brass stackable cubes? Yeah, you can. And worth every few thousand pennies.

Silver Screens & Iron Air

Thanks to Ramzi Hogan for dreaming this little gem up and executing it better than most of us could imagine. Check out beautiful stills from the shoot on his site and enjoy the hell out of this little minute and a half. Then go out and make something. Anything.

Shhhhhhhh, I'm Not Here

I mean, what can you say? Rolex customizers are a dime a dozen these days, but when the end product is something that looks this damn clean, let them be a nickel a dozen. Those skeleton hands on that sub??? Seriously??? Go ahead and snatch one here, only 8k..... pounds.

... High On Cocaine

If you missed the epically epic collection of Mike Brodie's work at M+B Gallery the last couple months, well then, you missed the epically epic collection of Mike Brodie's work. Luckily for you, the pieces are still up online. Although much better in person (the wood frames and off-white matting really did the pieces justice) the exhibit can be seen here.

Shameless Self-Promotion - Chapter A/W '13

Because it's my blog and I can, that's why. The good people at Chapter gave me the following creative brief: "I don't even care if you can see the clothes, just make it cool." One of my favorite shoots in a while. Check the full story here.

Dark Lords

"No, you can read the name of the band, they must not be good." In a world where ones talent is often measured by the darkness of ones band logo, Christophe Szpajdel is god. He has hand-drawn some of the most recognizably unrecognizable marks of the underground and does so between his time spent record and demo collecting and his day job as a forest ranger in Belgium. His book, Lord Of The Logos: Designing The Metal Underground is a comprehensive look at his illustrious career thus far and is more than worth the $38.66 from amazon.

Oh, and what photographer would ever be taken seriously without a commissioned logo from Szpajdel?? I mean, really....

Baked Alaska

Sure, there are better Speedys out there, but I certainly can't hate on this one. White face, red hand, weird, bulbous "apollo" sub-hands... as is. The Speedmaster "Alaska Project" is discontinued but you can find them on eBay for around 4k if your heart do so desire. You'll probably even find one with the red anodized, aluminum outer case necessary when worn in temps between 145c-245c... although I'm not showing any pictures of that... because it's ridiculous and bums me out.
