Rocking The Boat

The new(ish) Sk8 Hi Boatshoe from the SP '12 Cali lineup. Yup, I'm a fan of that Cali thing those Vans kids are doing. I thought I'd never stray from the classics, but I've pulled the trigger on more than a couple pairs from the line in the last couple months.

Done And Dun

Anyone who knows me knows that up there with watches, sunglasses get a fair bit of attention in my strange "collecting" (see: hoarding) life. Even though I just scored my unicorn, (Deadstock Persol Manager 103 for $125) I still continue my late night eBay searches. Vintage Dunhill frames have been topping the search criteria lately. Check them out, but you won't find those NOS, mid 80s, camo-framed, gold-trimmed joints on there... cause those are on their way to me.

Spring Preview

A few shots from the Pacific Sunwear SP '12 Preview I shot a few months back. Always have fun with this crew. It's hard enough to call what I do work, but when you work with a company as great as Pacsun, it's damn near impossible. More shots up here.

Just Because

Revisited one of my go-to sites for luggage inspiration. Wait, did I just say luggage inspiration? Who the fuck has luggage inspiration? I'm thinking new camera gear cases... pick-a-part foam, few sizes... done and done. Ridiculous? Yup. But so is 3/4 of the stuff on this blog.

Another Time - Another Place

Peter Stults makes movies posters. With a slight twist. Remember that really awkward dream you had when you woke up in a hotel room with tiger in the bathroom and a baby in the closet and Jerry Lewis eating sofa pizza? Peter had that same one. Check the rest out here.

Your New Favorite Bag Co.

Directional Motivation makes bags in the USA, in Los Angeles actually. They make them from reclaimed blankets and military fabrics. If that's not enough information to be picked up by every blog in the world, I'm just not sure what else to do. I happen to think the inundation of canvas tote companies around the country has been on the verge of an epidemic, but all is forgotten when I see such originality and craftsmanship as in DM. Solid cosign.

Not only is Naomi, the owner of this fine company, one of the bestest persons I've had the pleasure of meeting in LA, but she also makes every bag with love, style, grace, and even some attitude. 100% craftsmanship. 100% California. It's as if Venice Beach got called up for the draft, but went AWOL to smoke hash in Baja.

Bucket List: Gold Seiko Flightmaster

Some would call my obsession with watches an obsession... wait. I've been slowly ticking watches off my bucket list, and I can now tick the box next to Seiko Flightmaster. It's not rare, it's not collectible, and some would argue it's even ugly, but for me, it's just one of those I needed to own. The gold bracelet was a bit much for me so I threw it on a Maratec and called it a day. What's more ridiculous than a gold chrono on a milspec strap... very little.

Losing Marbles

My strange new obsession: antique marble paper. What? I don't know, just go with it. I never claimed to have a sense of coherency on this site.

Apocalypse NOW

So evidently I'm a little late on this, seeing as how they're sold out, but a boy can dream. If you were thinking of what to get that special man in your life for the holidays, think no further, because one of the most trusted names in hacking and stabbing tools has got you covered. Gerber has assembled the end all be all of post apocalyptic survival kits. Complete with everything you could ever need to fight off whatever horrible zombie or plague-infested enemy is inevitably going to come slowly, yet methodically, your way.
