Dogtown & Yale-Boyz

Somebody asked me the other day to describe my personal style. Although I think, and hope I do in fact HAVE style, I've never thought about describing it, and above all, describing it to the point of sounding cool. Anybody who knows me, knows I have what some would call a "uniform". This uniform usually consists of Vans Classics, whatever raw jeans I'm trying to work in (currently APCs everyday for 4 months, and no...they don't smell), a white Hanes v-neck, and or a Steven Alan woven. Now, you might look at that list and come to the conclusion that there is no style in there what-so-ever, BUT when confronted with the task of labeling such style, or lack there of, it can be a challenge. I thought for a sec then said, "old school California with a little prep" (I thought "a little" was better than "a splash of", "a hint of","a twist of", "a dash of", or even "a dab of"). Don't know if I did the job of making it sound "cool", but I tried.



Although I said this, and gave my style a name, I thought there were definite ways to push that marriage of juxtaposing themes. They seem pretty far off from one another, an unlikely pair like Bone Thugs-n-Harmony Feat. Phil Collins. So, I gave myself half an hour to jump online and pull things I like and then throw some looks together. No, I don't know why I did this, or set rules for myself for that matter, but I was bored. Below is what I came up with it. Day to day casual. I know one could "go off" given these two labels as inspiration, but I wanted to keep all the looks basic and within the realm of possibility of me wearing them. After I did a few, it became addicting, and have to admit I even broke my own rules and got back online to a few of my go-to sites for some more pieces.
