Inside Out

I'm sure almost all of you have seen a couple of these before, but if you're like me, you didn't know who did them. Well, the sick, sick soul behind these amazing illustrations is Michael Paulus. I guess when it comes to cartoon characters, it's not what's on the inside that counts.

HIT LIST: MacNeil 26"er

My daily rider is a '91 26" BOSS HOGG, handmade right here in California. I've been saying that the 26" is going to be the next big thing in bikes... no? Something has to dethrone the whole fixed craze. MacNeil, the Canadian BMX manufacturer, is coming out with a line of 26" BMXs just in time. They're a little too big to throw around like a 20" or 24", but they're fast and comfortable for a means of transportation. Get in touch with the kid in you, but fit... check 'em out.

Friends Of McQueen Car Show

Another drive out to Chino, and yet another pleasant surprise. A few weeks ago, it was the Planes Of Fame Air Show, this weekend, a car show. Chino is slowly moving up my list of exciting cities in California (it still has a way to go). The Boys Republic, although an off-putting name, is a really great looking place right in the heart of Chino Hills. Boys Republic is a "nonprofit. nonsectarian school and treatment community for troubled youngsters"... the place your parents threatened you about. The school has a couple notable alum, but none so famous as Steve. McQueen spent a couple years here and credits the place for turning his life around and giving him focus. He often went back to the school, speaking and signing over big checks to make sure the doors stayed open for kids like himself.

Every year, the school hosts a car show in Steve's honor. It wasn't big, it didn't have the best cars or the biggest crowd, but it was intimate and fun none the less. A good way to spend a Saturday. By far the best in show were the Porsches. As of fairly recently I have become a huge fan of not only the vintage Porsches, but some newer ones as well. The overcast weather was perfect for a car show and the In-N-Out truck was there slingin' Double-Doubles. Can you ask for more?

A Time To Get x Lead Derby

Our good friends at Lead Derby and I got together this weekend for a good old fashioned iPhone photo shoot. These guys have been hard at work on their collection and I was honored to be a part of capturing the spirit of the line... even if it was with a camera phone. I not only got to shoot the photos, but they also allowed me to throw a bit of ATG styling into it as well. It was a little too much fun.

Lead Derby is inspired by music, art, Southern California and the day to day attitude of taking it all easy and enjoying the now. I've been a fan of the look and feel of the line since their first season, but with this Fall collection, LD is really coming into their own. Lead Derby is proud to call LA home and keeps all design, manufacturing and printing local, right here in Los Angeles. Support locally made goods, support good people, and support Lead Derby. The line is bright and colorful but with enough of a classic twist and an assortment of basics to keep it grounded and easy to wear. Layer it up with some chinos, throw a fleece cardigan over your oxford or just relax in an amazingly comfortable tee and some well-loved jeans. A little something for everyone.

"It is Lead Derby’s hope that wearing our clothing brings you half the enjoyment it brings us in making it...we are born to run!"

Big thanks to Thomas P. for allowing us to use his dreamy visage for the day. The camera was all kinds of loving him.
