1st Annual SS/ATtoG Pinewood Derby

It is with great and over-whelming pleasure that I announce THE 1ST ANNUAL SECRET SERVICE/A TIME TO GET GOOD PEOPLE REVIVAL AND PINEWOOD DERBY.

OFFICIAL WEBSITE

The mostly good people at Secret Service and myself, kicked around ideas for the better part of a year, trying to figure out not only the most fun activity, but the most fun activity that lends itself to betting and shit-talking, for an annual event. Our strict criteria was met in the form of a Pinewood Derby.
A LOT MORE AFTER THE POSTER...

Get your ban-saws, sand paper, paint and lead weights out, cause it's buildin' time, folks. Channel you Boy Scout days (or Girl Scout, although I don't think the PWD was a part of their curriculum, but I didn't want to make this sound like it was closed to our female readers), and build you a one of a kind, wood-ramp runnin' rocket.

If you don't know what a PWD is, look at the photos below and google the hell out of it. The event is OPEN THE THE PUBLIC and cars from around the world are expected to be entered in the form of UPS, FEDEX, and USPS. If you are not able to make it to the event, have no fear, as your car will be raced by event staff. Just have your little bundle of wood and glue to Secret Service no later than June 10th, and all will be taken care of.

The collection of cars gathered for the event, if the builders will allow, will become a permanent fixture in Secret Service, so that generations to come may gaze upon and appreciate such works of craftsmanship. A website, okay a blogger site, has been created strictly for the event to educate contestants on the not-so-strict rules and regulations, and as a resource for everything Derby. Oh, the website is also in place to facilitate and encourage shit-talking and pre-race wagers.

If the event is one that you feel compelled to be a part of, simply email me, and your name will be added to the list of RACERS on the site. Send your name and or company name along with the car's place of birth, and you will be considered entered.

AND YES, trophies will be awarded to the best and worst in show, along with the standard 1st, 2nd loser, and maybe even 3rd place winners.

Email me questions, check the website, build your car, and prepare to lose.

Photos on this post were taken from multiple people on FLICKR, but have to give a special shout to my new friend and Pinewood Derby aficionado out of Columbus, Ohio... CARY WHITT. The best photos are his, and the badass car? That's his too. Thanks god he has more important things to do that weekend, cause he seems to be our only competition.
