Safe

My buddy, Jonathan (who constantly keeps me up to date with the freshest finds from the furthest reaches of the internets) sent me some amazing photos by Paul Thompson this morning. No, this isn't a collection of mug shots or a photo essay on early 20th century, hardened criminals serving out time in work camps -- these are what ball-players used to look like. Men who wore their life stories in the creases and folds of their faces as prominently as the numbers on their backs, these boys of summer played the game for a whole other reason. Striped, short-billed hats off to these gents.
